An audio-visual contemporary circus performance
When you surrender to the pursuit of intangible dreams, life unfolds into endless dimensions. Project 4.28 km/h tells a story of personal journey, transformation, and human connection through art, adventure, and introspection. A long-held dream takes shape in a theatrical atmosphere that merges circus skill, sound, and storytelling.
The project, created and performed by Ratko Bokić, begins with an unusual undertaking: with a backpack filled with juggling props, the artist sets out on foot from Zagreb to the Adriatic coast. Along the way, he transforms into a traveling circus artist, performing for people in the towns he passes through — bringing joy and art to those he encounters.
The performance emerges from a three-part process:
Walking – A physical and social journey from Zagreb to Krk, where the artist connects with local communities, brings art into everyday life, and explores the social dimensions of his undertaking.
Reflection – An audio documentary recorded as a dialogue with psychologist Marijela Vučičić, delving into the inner changes experienced during the journey.
Stage Performance – Through juggling object manipulation combined with the recorded documentary soundscape, the performance creates a multidimensional experience that bridges inner and outer processes, blending adventure with introspection.
Project 4.28 km/h is a poetic journey through physical and spiritual freedom, transformed into a unique stage performance that explores the boundaries of human will, artistic expression, and human connection.
The show is in Croatian language.
