MISMO NISMO (SLO): JUGGLING CONCERT

This creation by the Mismo Nismo collective places a circus ensemble into the identity of a girl-boy band. In Juggling Concert, juggling joins singing, reciting, and other forms of audience interaction on equal footing. During the performance, the artists throw 18 kilometers of ball flight. Through a torn membrane, juggling moves between the role of the front(wo)man and background vocals – or rather, background jugglers.
The conceptual apparatus of the stage characters is marinated in a cocktail of compostable online comments, anti-authoritarian fakoffs, and three slices of ginger. They snack in fancy shirts while secretly longing for children’s songs about farts. The show occasionally farts here and now. If it’s political – let it be a political beast. Violence is here, romance is there. Can we even agree on anything if we are so different? If we’ve taken such different items off the shelf? Is choreography perhaps the only thing that still (con)nects us?
We spit on ourselves because we piss against the wind; we spit on the structures because we want them to be flexible and inclusive. Juggling and music intertwined – together: with greater subversive power than ever before. A juggling concert.
In today’s world, the Juggling Concert is one of the most useful and applicable products created on Our planet. At a time when everyone sees the real situation, when everyone understands what matters and which path to follow, Mismo Nismo teaches us to believe in the power of heart, soul, and the progress that brings light. They convey this through complex, lavish juggling figures – which is why their impact is even stronger. They manage to embed ideals, higher ambitions, and a belief in the power and importance of the individual into the soul of today’s generation.
