With Cuir, Arno Ferrera and Gilles Polet seek to maintain a subject-to-subject relationship, which does not call for confrontation conflictual, to a win-win relationship. One may want to subdue the other, force him to follow him, impose a situation on him, but the other can also be in acceptance, in a willingness to follow this obligation. The two men are jubilant then of their positions, with consent, without there being hierarchy.

To do this, they explore the capacities of their bodies using equestrian harnesses, usually reserved for towing work and ploughing. The strength thus acquired allows us to allow ourselves to sweetness. Not only does the harness amplify the potential for human traction, but it is also an eye-opener. Through a physical commitment to the service of others with this an archaic tool, the two acrobats seek a state where instinct and will become visible and tangible.

The regional tour of the company “Un louppour l’homme ” is supported through Teatroskop (a program initiated by French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, French Ministry of Culture, and Institut français Paris). This event is part of Circus (must) SEE program:  http://www.institutfrancais.rs/doc/Circus(must)SEE.pdf

ARNO FERRERA is a graduate in Physical Theatre from the Scuola Teatro Dimitri (CH), which followed ten years in gymnastics and, in parallel, six years studying baroque music at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (CSI). After choosing Brussels as a base, he completed his physical training in contemporary dance and has toured Europe with Martin Schick and Damir Todorović in Holiday on Stage, and with Opera Retablo in Vanity: I Hate this Job. He works as a dramatist and in the design and creation of theatrical masks for many productions of the dance company of the choreographer Joeri Dubbe (Kitsune, Infant and Kiraly), which is currently touring in Europe and Asia. Working with masks has allowed him to study instinctive movement and analyse the motricity of the animal world. He encountered the Un loup pour l’homme company in 2015, taking on a role in Face Nord, and then participating in the creation of Rare Birds and Cuir.

GILLES POLET is a trained actor, dancer, director, teacher and image architect. After graduating PARTS he has been performing with Troubleyn/Jan Fabre in numerous pieces, of which he’s still touring the 24h marathon Mount Olympus. In 2014 he went for a research on dance and sufism in Iran and from this he created his solo Simurgh and the evening long event Conference of Birds. Besides being a creating associate of Ehsan Hemat for  I Put a Spell on You, Gilles is currently doing a research entitled Only the Brave, exploring induced altered states of mind and its performative and therapeutic properties.
