CIRKOBALKANA 12: BARIJERE
ZAGREB
Barriers as obstacles, spatial limitations of free movement and at the same time a microcosm of the boundless world of creation, are the theme of this year’s CirkoBalkana – the contemporary circus festival. The world we live in is filled more and more every day with restrictions, barriers imposed by power mechanisms that often use invisible methods of repression to hinder our movement in the physical and mental space of being, but also barriers that we build ourselves under the influence of the society in which we live.
The 12th edition of CirkoBalkana takes us into the boundless world of creation! Surrender to the influence of the power of art that breaks down all barriers with its unlimited and always new creativity, turning them into an inspiring performance space.
Art breaks down borders from June 3 to 9 in Zagreb in the circus tent at Trnjanska Struga 34 and in the Big Hall of Pogon Jedinstvo!

»The real economy – and not the ultra-liberal one that our rulers dream of – no longer tolerates grand spectacles that support the desire to forget or escape, or to stun the masses. It requires real modesty and imposes on an increasing number of circus artists, as in the past, the development of the art of creating something big with few resources, as well as a conversation about the real limitations that hold us back.«
